Apartment San Giorgio
Apartment San Giorgio is an amazing studio apartment located in the heart of Lucca's centro storico (historic entre). On the first floor of a building constructed in the 14th century, the apartment is reached after climbing only six steps. Entering the apartment there are another four steps to a small entrance hall.
The main room of the apartment is huge and dominated by 700 year old vaulted brickwork ceilings. The marble capitals of the supporting columns are visible at floor level. Architecturally significant, the building is classified by the heritage protection authority.
Staying here is an opportunity to be a part of living history. In the room, there is a king sized antique walnut bed, bedside cabinets and a chest of drawers and wardrobe. A comfortable sofa and wall mounted, flat screen TV complete this end of the apartment.
At the other end is a compact, full kitchen and a small dining area. There is an electric cookop, microwave oven, fridge/freezer and everything else needed to prepare a home cooked meal. The other option is to visit the alimentari (delicatessen) across the street. Looking out the window, you can gaze at the extraordinary selection of fresh, mouth watering produce.
The apartment bathroom is accessed off the entrance hall and has a fully enclosed shower, a toilet, bidet and hand basin.
The apartment is located in the heart of Lucca in via San Giorgio, just off via Fillungo. The area is tranquil and silent, especially during the evenings and at night time. There does tend to be a little bit of noise in the mornings as the city comes to life (normally commencing with the street sweepers at about 8.00am).
Apartment San Giorgio is a great studio apartment for a couple or solo traveller. It is an excellent alternative to a B&B, giving you far more space and the convenience of being able to cook at home. There is also a washing machine in the kitchen.

Location
The apartment San Giorgio is located in the heart of Lucca in via San Giorgio, just off via Fillungo.
The area is tranquil and silent, especially during the evenings and at night time. There does tend to be a little bit of noise in the mornings as the city comes to life (normally commencing with the street sweepers at about 8.00am).
The cobbled streets and squares of the old city of Lucca are full of atmosphere. With their Gothic and Renaissance palaces, the towers of the nobility, old shops and tree lined piazzas, it is a place to be taken in at leisure. Strolling through the town, one will find new delights at every turn. Following century old traditions, some of the alimentari (delicatessens) have been operating in the same locations for more than 100 years by several generations of the one family. Locally produced cheeses, olive oil and wine are a specialty of many of these.
Nestled between Florence and the Mediterranean Sea, Lucca is a virtual treasure trove of everything special about Italy and Tuscan living. A wealth of art, history, culture and relaxed living, it is the perfect spot to have as a base for a Tuscan holiday. All the major attractions of Tuscany are an easy drive along the Autostrada. Florence, Siena, and San Gimignano, are all within an hour and a half drive and Pisa and the beach are only 25 min away.
Lucca is one of the few cities in Italy to have its original mediaeval city walls intact. More than 200 years ago, these walls were turned into avenues and parklands and have been a major attraction of the city ever since. A "passeggiata" along these spectacular walls is the essential experience of a visit to Lucca.
