Arancia

Arancia is a fully furnished house in the recently converted and restored stables and cellar of a 300 year old stone villa in the picturesque hillside hamlet of Casanova di Murlo.

Casanova, approximately 20 km south of the medieval walled city of Siena, sits on a ridge with the Merse Valley to the west and the Arbia Valley to the east. There are typical Tuscan forest and valley views of rolling hills, olive groves and vineyards towards Montalcino and Mount Amiata to the south east and Massa Marittima to the south west.

Arancia has an internal floor area of 90 m2 plus a private paved terrace area of 60 m2. The terrace allows for secure parking of one vehicle with plenty of room for outdoor living under an ancient but vigorous grapevine. The house is furnished with Tuscan antiques but with new lounges and beds to ensure your comfort.

The travertine benched kitchen includes all stainless steel appliances such as an electric stove, gas cook-top, dishwasher and refrigerator/freezer plus ample cutlery, crockery, pots and pans and other cooking utensils. The dining table has two fold up extensions and so can easily seat six people.

The lounge room has two comfy lounge chairs plus a three person sofa that converts to a queen-size sofa bed. An LCD television and a DVD player sit upon a beautifully restored kitchen bench from a Tuscan farm house. A stereo is also provided along with books, maps and brochures of the region.

The master bedroom, with double window opening onto the terrace, includes a queen-size Pirelli bed with antique head-board, bed-side table, a large chest of drawers and wardrobe. A large passageway leads from the lounge room to the second bedroom, with two large single beds and wardrobe and then into the main bathroom and laundry.

The passageway houses a writing desk and an armadio where extra wool blankets, linen and quilts are stored.

The main bathroom has a shower, basin, toilet and bidet and the second bathroom, has a shower, basin and toilet/bidet. The separate laundry has a combined washing machine/clothes dryer and there is plenty of room for storage of bags, outdoor furniture and such things as push bikes.

The house has thermostat controlled gas central heating with radiators in each room with double glazed windows and doors made from solid chestnut. There are typical Tuscan interiors with internal chestnut shutters plus external metal shutters on the windows and front door to provide added security plus flexibility to leave windows and doors open safely, particularly in the summer months.

The floors are tiled throughout and the ceilings are either terracotta tiles supported by large oak beams or vaulted with terracotta tiles in a herring bone configuration.
