Les Bourgézies Hautes

This 16th century stone farmhouse has been restored and perfectly equipped to the highest standards and is set in its own extensive grounds. An ocean of unspoiled nature surrounds an island of lawns, gardens and centuries-old low stone walls, creating a uniquely quiet and serene atmosphere.

The house has been lovingly restored over thirty years. It is fully-equipped with all modern appliances and centrally-heated throughout. A constant aim has been authenticity and sober excellence (e.g. much of the furniture is period and the pool and garden furniture are devoid of all plastic!).

There is sleeping accommodation for ten adults and two children with ample privacy and quiet for all but thanks to its configuration it is also ideal for a couple, a small family or small parties.

All conceivable modern conveniences, including technological ones ( internet, wifi, fax, printer, satellite TV, etc) are provided . Committed cooks have complimented the owners on having all utensils necessary for the successful practice of their skills.

The much-admired, heated pool (11m x 5m) set high in a leafy setting, although only yards from the house, is positioned in such a way as not to spoil the magic of the original setting of the house and its surrounds. The pool is for the exclusive use of tenants and is equipped with teak furniture and two parasols. It is protected by an alarm and is fully enclosed.

Location

The farmhouse is situated near the village of Saint Chamassy which is in the very heart of the Périgord Noir, being the commune which fronts both of the great Dordogne rivers, the Vézère and the Dordogne. Almost all the best villages and famous sites (architectural, gastronomic, historic, prehistoric or scenic) of this remarkable area are within a 30 to 40 minute drive.

Le Bugue, the nearest small town is charming and just a 7 minute drive away. You can have your coffee overlooking the river and with a view over the village and the surroundings hills. It has four supermarkets, an excellent DIY store, a full range of shops and services and a good medical centre with a doctor always available outside surgery hours. Its 800 year-old Tuesday market is also an exceptional attraction.

There are excellent train connections within 10 minutes, west towards BERGERAC and BORDEAUX ( 2 hours away and well worth a visit), north towards PERIGUEUX (40 mins, worth a visit.) east towards SARLAT (30 mins and very much worth a visit,) and south towards AGEN (1 hour) The view from the trains is remarkable.
