Location
The historic town of Eymet is situated in the south west of France, about a 90 minute drive south east of Bordeaux and 20 minutes from Bergerac. It is easily accessible with Bergerac airport being a 20 minute drive and Bordeaux and Toulouse airports being an 1 1/2 and a 2 hour drive away.
The town boasts some impressive architecture, including La Place de la Bastide with its fountain and extensive pedestrian zone, the 14th and 15th century houses dotted around the centre and the towers of the medieval castle, recently restored as part of the Station Bastide competition, of which Eymet was a prizewinner.
Thursday is market day in Eymet where a large range of local produce can be bought. There are markets, on other days, in most of the other towns in the area. In the summer there is a night market on a Tuesday night which is always lively.
The area is reknowned for its fabulous wine, regional products, beautiful countryside, traditional weekly markets and offers a range of activities from canoeing, kayaking, walking, cycling, visiting neighbouring villages (some of which are classified as the most beautiful in France), numerous chateaux - the list is endless.
