Maison Charvin
Over three hundred years old, Maison Charvin is a solid stone, tall, narrow house in the heart of one of the most beautiful and best preserved fortified towns in southern France. Protected under national heritage legislation, this village house has been restored to provide modern amenities.
The house is centrally heated and has a mains pressure hot water system. It has been comfortably furnished and is fully supplied with linen and can comfortably accommodate seven adults.
Ground Level
At ground level, above the cellars, there is a kitchen, a wash room and a living-dining room. There is an extension dining table in the living room and a breakfast table in the kitchen. The kitchen is fully equipped, including a microwave, and the wash room has a washing machine and a separate WC with basin.
2nd and 3rd Levels
On the 2nd level there is a large bedroom, with a double bed, an adjoining sitting room and a shower-room with WC. On the 3rd level there is another large bedroom with twin beds, an adjoining sitting room and, again, a shower room with WC. Both shower-rooms are directly accessible from the stairwell and so can be used privately by persons from any floor.
4th Level
On the 4th level, is a single bedroom (with hot and cold water), and a double bedroom which opens onto a covered terrace. The terrace is a great spot for coffee or a quiet read.
Outdoor terrace
Steep and narrow stone stairs lead up to a galetas, soliaïré or séchoir. This is another covered terrace with one wall open to the southern sun, used in times past to dry farm produce for storage during winter. Now it serves as a sheltered outdoor living space with splendid views down the valley of the Var - ideal for breakfast or for drinks before the evening meal. There is a small bar refrigerator to keep drinks cool.
The Village
Features of the old medieval town are everywhere - stepped streets and vaulted passageways, street fountains and village squares. You enter Entrevaux over a stone bridge and through the Porte Royale, one of three gates into the village. The village has a good range of facilities to cater for tourists as well as its permanent population of about 750. There are four restaurants, café bars, a pizzeria, créperie, butcher, bread shops, patisserie, general stores, mini-mart, doctor, chemist, newsagent, craft and gift shop, pottery, post office, bank agency, BP service station - providing easily for all your needs during your stay.
