Leanne's travelling experiences commenced when she and her family travelled by boat for 6 weeks from Australia to Malaysia where her father took up an overseas military posting. Her enthusiasm for travel was born early - she was less than 1 year old at the time!

Leanne's passion for travel has continued to grow and her range of experiences encompass:

• Living as an expatriate in a number of countries including England and Malaysia;
• Enjoying an extended overseas working holiday for 3 ½ years with travel throughout the UK, Eastern and Western Europe and Africa;
• Travelling through Europe in a camper van for 6 months; 
• Travelling for 6 months around eastern, central and northern Australia and
• Regular overseas trips to continue exploring her two favourite countries - France & Italy.

In recent years, travelling with younger children and aging parents, Leanne has developed further expertise in self catering holiday rentals in France and Italy and can help you in planning your next overseas adventure. She has stayed at a number of the properties on the site and is happy to assist and advise other travellers in finding the best holiday rental for their needs.

Leanne's travel experiences are wide and varied. She has traveled to countries including France, Italy, Germany, Greece, Russia, Spain, Portugal, Norway, Sweden, Britain, Ireland, Wales, Turkey, Thailand, Egypt, Africa, India, Morocco, Prague, Hungary and many others.

The Getaway Guru story

Getaway Guru was born out of the frustration of searching through thousands of search engine pages to find suitable overseas accommodation. In 2005 when planning a holiday in France, Leanne stumbled across an Australian owned holiday rental advertisement and had such a positive experience that she began to seek out other Australian owned properties when planning her subsequent overseas trips.

Realizing that other Australians may also benefit from this, Leanne started a database of Australian owned properties. In 2010 Leanne launched Getaway Guru with 5 properties in the portfolio listings.

More than just an internet site of Australian owned holiday rentals, Leanne uses her expertise and knowledge to assist in the research and planning of your overseas getaway and now offers more than 50 Australian owned properties across France and Italy in the portfolio, which is growing on a weekly basis.
